Draco watched as the taller boy growled, causing the blond to clench his fist. ::Arrogant prick. Go ahead, start something, I would love to finish it for you. You need to be knocked down a few pegs yourself:: the voice in his head growled for him, his body pulsing as he tensed, wanting nothing more than to punch the boy square in the face. He wasnt sure why, but Diggory always rubbed him the wrong way. A hiss escaped the Slytherin when the Hufflepuff leaned lazily against the the nearest wall, that ridiculous smile plastered on his face again.
"Yeah, yeah. Sure. Death eater parents, the whole deal. Spare me the details, Malfoy." Draco’s entire body tensed against Gabs’ at the mention of it, suddenly his left forearm felt like it was burning beneath his sleeve. He snarled softly in the boy’s direction "I could care less."
Draco scoffed internally at the boy’s choice of words. ::Could care less hmm? So, you’re telling me that you actually do care. Well done, Diggory.::
"And Gabby’s a sweet girl and all, but I’m not following her around humping her leg. That’s not my style. We’re friends, end of story. You, however-"
A growl emanated from the blonde’s chest once more, the muscles in his arms jumping with how much he wanted to deck the taller boy. Anything just to knock that ridiculously smug look off his face. He felt Gabs’ hand tighten barely around his wrist, subtly telling him to calm down. He glanced around the hallway as well, noting that students and the occassional professor were crowding the halls. Sure he wanted to deck the kid, but he knew that he would have to wait until the hall had at least cleared out a bit. He snapped his attention back towards the insufferable Hufflepuff.
"And if I didn’t know better, I’d say you were trying particularly hard, Malfoy. If you think I’m trying to steal your girl, then show me she’s off limits, and I’ll back off"
Slate orbs widened before he could manage to gain control of his reaction, his mouth slightly open as he tried to come up with some sort of retort. His body was tense against Gabs’, her body stiff as well as he barely heard the slight gasp come from her.
"That’s what I thought"
::I swear, Wolfbait, you are so going to owe me after all this crap. I hope you know that you are never going to hear the end of this. Thank god Blue isnt here, I’d never hear the end of this whole thing either.::
After several silent seconds Draco closed his eyes and shook his head, a snide smile, more of a baring of teeth, finding its way onto his face. When his gaze returned to meet the boy’s own green eyes they were steel, undercurrents of caution and wariness trying to break through.
"I shouldn’t need to show you to get you to leave her alone. You should have enough respect for her to accept what she says. Not that I’d expect a Diggory to know what respect is"
He knew he was egging the other boy on, as it is the Hufflepuff had effectively ticked him off. He slowly let his arms drop from around Gabs’ waist and moved to the side of her, snarling slightly.
"You are just like your brother. Cocky, smug and over confident, look where that got him. One would think you would have learnt from his mistakes." He hissed at the boy.
His brain screamed at him the instant the words left his lips, the sharp intake of breath from the Gryffindor beside him let him know that it wasnt just the Hufflepuff he had angered. Internally he cringed, even though he stood firm before the boy. He wanted to take his words back, he hated that bit about himself, but he knew that he couldnt.
::Screw that. He shouldn’t have egged us on. Besides, at least we haven’t hauled off and decked him like we wanted to do.::
::You do realize that we just pissed Wolfbait off though. That isnt good. At this rate she’s going to be chasing us around the damn forest for sport come the next full moon. And we’ll deserve it too. Way to be a complete arse rag, Malfoy. Well done.:: The sarcasm coming off of the voice in his head almost chocked him.
